Announcement
We are inspired by Door County, Wisconsin, our home. Door County is part of the Niagara Escarpment, a unique geological feature that shapes our daily life. Our shapes, images and glazes reference the lakes, cliffs, forests, beaches, and weather in each piece of functional art we make. We translate these powerful experiences into abstract and universal images that elicit an instant response by the viewer which makes visiting our showroom an interactive experience. A bowl or pitcher may remind you of a certain beach, person or moment, or a certain season, night sky, a concert or meal. A connection is made, the story becomes yours and you know you've found what you were looking for.
"My new mugs arrived safely. I have a fresh brewed cup of coffee setting by my side. They are (a)...gift to myself and I absolutely will adore and pamper them forever. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful creative work with me. Ever a fan and friend, J.R."
We live and work in Ellison Bay Wisconsin which is near the tip of the Door Peninsula..a 'thumb' of land between Green Bay and Lake Michigan. Our studio and gallery and home are housed in a retired fruit barn.
We make functional (food, microwave, oven and dishwasher safe) pottery. Each pot, mug, vase, bowl etc is one of a kind, so the photos are only a representation of what can and does happen in our studio.
We also make decorative pottery using an ancient process that is called pit firing. It's a fast wood firing which leaves unique and random patterns of color on the surface.
